STORIES OF GRIEF, LONGING, AND OCCASIONAL NECROMANCY

This collection of short stories seeks to “transcribe the ghosts.” Sometimes the ghosts in
these stories are literal—like the living-father’s ghost in my story “All Possible Exits,” or the
haunted phone calls trapped in the radiotelly in “Last Words.” But more often, the ghosts are
the human conditions that haunt us. In this collection, those conditions are most often longing
and control, specifically in the face of loss.
These are no ordinary stories of loss and longing—they bend neatly into the surreal,
with fantastical elements weaving themselves seamlessly into reality.
